CherokeeCat Power - Cherokee - Sun (2012)
Lots and lots of Cat Power as of late. I’m absolutely hooked to Sun — Chan Marshall’s latest album (drops on September 3rd in the UK and September 4th in the US).
The album is a fantastic and eclectic collection of tunes. My favorite songs thus far are ‘Cherokee’, ‘3,6,9’, Nothin But Time’ (a brilliant 10+ minute anthemic tune) and ‘Manhattan’.
The album is a wonderful listen from top to bottom. A more in depth review to come as we get closer to the release date.

Absolutely delightful. So perfect on a sedate Monday afternoon…
I’ve been listening to Rosie and Me for the better part of the last day and a half. ”Arrow of My Ways” and “Bird and Whale” are two superb listens. The latter being their initial offering (an EP) and the previous being a brilliant debut album that dropped in early 2012.
This is indie folk (or alt-country) at it’s purest — and it comes from Brazil!
Rosanne Machado’s (Rosie) vocals are soothing and enchanting while her bandmates instrumentation complements thoughtful and sometimes heartbreaking lyrics.
Wonderful all around, quite addictive and, for me, the perfect accompaniment on a quiet Sunday afternoon, on a slow motion Monday or whilst writing. I highly recommend both.

I love this SuckerForLights self-titled EP.
It’s comprised of five fantastic songs and I’ve been through it 15 times, so far…
SuckerForLights is a Dreampop duo from Portland, Oregon. The band was started in 2008 by vocalist/keyboardist Olivia Voss and guitarist Bryan Brunt. Voss’ distinct falsetto and verbrato coupled with Brunt’s perfectly complementary guitar hooks make for an eclectic mix of catchy (in a good way) tunes.
SuckerForLights offer lyrically brilliant, often anthemic, 80’s-influenced goodness and my ears are eager for more. I simply can’t get enough.

I was getting ready for my day, tunes on random, when Ghost Animal stopped me in my tracks. Wonderfully noisy, shoe gazey, lo fi brilliance that made for a fantastic way to start this day.
I proceeded to listen to Summertime In Heaven in its entirety - an impressive album that had slipped my mind… Check out Lastfm for free downloads and to purchase.
Ghost Animal is Michael Avishay and Marisa Rowland (w/ Cole Browning live)
From what I understand, Ghost Animal is on the verge of producing and releasing some new records, for various artists, through the Death Party Records label in the coming weeks and months. A label they started in 2011. I for one can’t wait to hear what they have in store.
