Hospitality - Friends of Friends - Hospitality (2012)

Hospitality lightening the tone of my afternoon. I love the playful nature of their songs…even when the subject matter, of said songs, is not so playful.

A lot of that playfulness comes through in Amber Papini’s vocals — there’s energy and animation in every word that she sings.

Papini’s vocals, coupled with rich but lighthearted instrumentation and idiosyncratic songwriting adds a buoyancy and spirit to this album. It oozes life and pep even when tackling not so lively themes.

Love it from top to bottom.

“…When I call
you don’t pick up anymore
But I’ve got
Friends that are new friends
And friends that are old friends
And friends looking out…”

Lyrics.

Hospitality - Julie - Self-Titled (2012)

A subdued and light Sunday calls for the sounds of Hospitality. Sooooo dig this tune. Apropos for a chill Sunday afternoon.

This album is perfect for those days when you crave quiet, alone time… Just doing your own thing — whatever that may be…

BTW, you can pick up the entire 10-song album for $5 on Amazon - instead of the approx $10 on iTunes. Quite a bargain for such a great album.

Members: Amber Papini (adore her voice), Nathan Michel, Brian Betancourt.

Hospitality - All Day Today - Self Titled (2012)

Sun’s out, it’s about 75 degrees and I’m spending the day in Balboa Park. Hospitality is keeping me company. This album feels apropos in tonality and mentality to a day at the park.

Really digging the album. Love Amber Papini’s voice, the stripped down instrumentation, the beautiful and, often, light lyrics and the certain rawness in their sound.

Hospitality consists of Amber Papini (vocals, guitar), Brian Betancourt (bass) and Nathan Michel (percussion). Their debut album dropped this past Tuesday (Jan 31). I highly recommend it.
