Closing out the work week with Divine Fits.

I’ve been listening to this album for the better part of this week and, I must say, I’m gravitating towards the tunes in which Dan Boeckner is the lead vocalist (versus Britt Daniel). That may be my Handsome Furs bias though… 

      

For those not aware, Divine Fits is an indie “supergroup” featuring Spoon’s Britt Daniel, New Bomb Turks’ drummer Sam Brown, and Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs member Dan Boeckner.

A fantastic album. Fans of the aforementioned bands will dig it.

The album drops on August 28th (this coming Tuesday). Pre-order (or purchase) the album here <- less than on iTunes.

An old favorite from a, now defunct, favorite band. One of the most played bands in my library…

I can’t wait for Dan Boeckner’s latest project, with Spoon frontman Britt Daniel, to drop on 8/28 — called Divine Fits. Based on what I’ve heard thus far they complement each other quite nicely.

You can stream Divine Fits first two releases, “My Love Is Real” and “Would That Not Be Nice”.

Handsome Furs - Repatriated - Sound Kapital (2011)

This album is blowing me away. Sound Kapital for a full day now. No hyperbole. Perfect blend of conventional vs unconventional, electro vs synth-pop, Boeckner’s strumming and vocals vs Alexei’s beats and keyboards. It’s perfectly raw, very passionate, quite candid…. Sh!t. Just so very good.

Repatriated = one of my favorite tracks thus far.

Highly, highly recommend you pick it up. And get the bonus track version. It includes Agony. A flippin’ fantastic tune and another fave.

Perfect prep for Friday night shenanigans.

Actor turned director Scott Coffey has very clearly learned a thing or two from his time working with David Lynch (“Mullholland Drive” and “Inland Empire”), because this NSFW video for “What About Us” by Handsome Furs has a distinct Lynch-ian vibe. It’s a good video for the track - dark, sexy, weird and well shot. Give it a look, unless of course, nudity offends you.
