Sin Fang Bous - Sinkership - Clangour (2008)

Never get tired of this song or this album…

“…I need to forget some words I said yesterday

Change them away from memories

And just change them all again…”

Brilliant.

Lykke Li - Everybody But Me - Youth Novels (2008)

Heard this late last night whilst walking through downtown San Diego. And it has stuck with me since. Nice little random reminder of a really good album.

Frightened Rabbit - I Feel Better - The Midnight Organ Fight

How is it possible that I’ve never blogged this tune? Just checked my archive and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. In any case, it just made my afternoon, so it’s getting posted (repeat or not…)

Scott Hutchinson = brilliant writer/lyricist. And, the FR fellas = nice guys to boot (best night ever!) Highly reco seeing them live…

“…I’ll stow away my greys, in a padlocked case and in a padlocked room.
Only to be released when I see you walking round with someone new.
This is the last song, this is the last song, this is the last song I’ll write about you…”

Of Montreal - An Eluardian Instance - Skeletal Lamping (2008)

Always wondered if Kevin Barnes was referring to (or inspired by) the poetry of Paul Eluard when composing this tune? And, if so, which particular poem?

A tune I love.

“Does she know, does she know that I am not just searching for some first time high? I know it’s all about perceptions, and I accept you as my first move…”

A Little Past Twilight

Fair and Kind - Silty Sea - A Little Past Twilight (2008)

Listening to @fairandkind. First time through this album and just loving it.

Stumbled upon Fair and Kind via thesixtyone.com. This tune = immediately had to purchase the album… Click link for a bunch of other tunes you can stream whilst learning more about the band. Love thesixtyone.com for just this reason.

Via the band: “Fair and Kind is the dream pop collaboration of siblings Arthi Meera and Anand Subramanian, featuring exquisite vocals, sparkling guitars, and lavish melodies. Their debut album, A Little Past Twilight, was self-released in October 2008.”

Couldn’t agree more with the description of their music. Delightful soundtrack for this quiet (but productive) Sunday morning.

Check out their website to stream some of their tunes, some free downloads and more info on the band.

The Missing e Rant helped but I can’t seem to shake this Monday morning gloom… or Crystal Castles. This’ll, hopefully, turn things around.

Crystal Castles - Courtship Dating - Self Titled (2008)

First song of the day. In an odd mood this morning. But, this is not a bad way to start a Monday morning. A tad of a jumpstart…

The Weepies - Orbiting - Hideaway (2008)

It’s quiet. Such a quiet Wednesday evening. Perfect for The Weepies. Just perfect.

Perhaps, calls for a quiet walk through San Diego - with The Weepies keeping me company.

Beautiful tune that’s fittingly quiet. Not so much in lyric though… The lyrics scream for attention.

“…I walk the line between now and then
It’s deep sea diving with no oxygen
Guess I went somewhere to hide
Far behind my eyes
I willed you there to see
But you never came for me…”

Downloading their new single “Apparitions” as I type this. Lookin’ forward to it…

Bon Iver - Skinny Love - Forever Emma, Forever Ago (2008)

Overplayed and hated on by many (the reasoning behind this vitriolic hatred is beyond me…) Pish posh I say.

One of the first songs I heard this morn. Calming my spirits…some nerves…desperately need that today.

Big day.

First tune of the day. Never gets old. Particularly appropriate on a sunny Saturday, San Diego morn.

Have a kick@ss Saturday all.

Electric President - We Will Walk Through Walls - Sleep Well (2008)

“We will walk through walls, my dear

I promise you
We will walk through walls, my dear
I promise you
And we will walk through walls, my dear
I promise you”

Sin Fang Bous
Clangour

Sin Fang Bous - Sinkership - Clagour (2008)

Listening to Sin Fang Bous this morn. Dig this tune. The playful open, the way it ebbs and flows, the builds, the unbalanced/structural differences throughout, the unexpected instrumentation… It’s just pretty great and Sindri Sigfússon’s soothing, oftentimes breathy, voice rounds it out perfectly.

In case you’re not familiar, Sin Fang Bous is Sindri Sigfússon’s one-man project. With Sin Fang Bous, the frontman for Seabear, creates dynamic soundscapes with tons of layering, playfully ethereal (sometimes angelic) tonality, emotive (sometimes intense) lyrics, and instrument-rich, lush (borderline folksy) melodies.

Another great Icelandic export (i.e. Sigur Ros, Mum). And, quite nice on a perfectly, lazy Saturday morning.

The Helio Sequence - Back To This - Keep Your Eyes Ahead (2008)

We were kicking around
We were broken up bound and everything fell to fear
Sometimes you can relate
Sometimes there’s nothing left to say
