Fruit Bats - A Dodo Egg - Echolocation (2001)
Fruit Bats this evening. It’s been a while… I’m going to make a night of it — starting with the first album from Eric D. Johnson (The Shins, I Rowboat, Califone) and his Fruit Bats’ bandmates, Echolocation.
“Write your name on the shell of a dodo egg.
In the horse latitudes in the deep blue dregs.
Just remember that you’re married to the sea.
Throw your harpoons to the wind crying ‘mutiny!’
Write the name of your true love on a Moa’s beak.
Poke a hole in the hull and let the bottom leak.
Just remember that you’re married to the sea.
Throw your harpoons to the wind crying ‘mutiny!’”

I highly recommend checking out all of the albums (Echolocation, Mouthfuls, Spelled In Bones, Ruminant Band and Tripper). They’re all fantastic. Not a bad one in the bunch. Purchase them here.
