The Rural Alberta Advantage - “Don’t Haunt This Place”
The Rural Alberta Advantage is a name that I would associate more with an insurance company than with an indie group- but I guess that’s the way it goes with most band names these days. The song has already been featured on Pitchfork over a year ago but I’ve just fallen in love with it in the last few months.
Last July, we featured another song by this band but in honor of them finishing their second album (it’s following up their 2009 Hometowns). I wanted to write another post.
I love this song for a few reasons reasons: it has a beautiful narrative coupled with a chorus that easily gets stuck in your head. It is a little more acoustic than their other works, but the harmonies between the male lead and the female backup put together a haunting and melancholy song.
Can’t wait for Rural Alberta Advantage second album. Hometowns (their debut) was just brilliant.
